Wednesday Against Everest" Reprinted with

"Sport New In Local School; 10 Divisions
Lincoln Fieldhouse Wednesday night will be
the scene of something new - the first high
school wrestling match for the Lincoln High
School grapplers under the direction of
Coach Ken Hurlbut. The Red Raiders will be
paired against wrestlers from D. C. Everest
High School of Schofield in their first regularly
scheduled match. Athletes will compete in 10
weight divisions, starting at 7:30. There will be
no charge for the match. For a team march,
points are scored on a basis of three for a
decision and five for pinning an opponent. Five
points are also scored in case of a forfeit.
Individual points for each bout are too
complicated for explanation here."
Here it is - the very, very first wrestling team, at LHS.
Here is where the LHS WRESTLING DYNASTY began.

"Rapids, Everest Wrestlers Tie
Raiders Lead Into Last Bout; 18-18 Deadlock
Unbeaten John Kwiatkowski scored a pin over Ron Verjinski in the
heavyweight final match of the evening to earn D. C. Everest of Schofield an
18-18 tie with the Lincoln High wrestling team here Wednesday night in the
first regular match for the red Raiders. --
The result was satisfactory, if not completely pleasing to Coach Ken Hurlbut,
as the Everest wrestlers have a year's experience edge on the Red Raiders.--"
